Atom on Ubuntu has a strange bug with X which behaves strangely after clicking and scrolling. All text is selected up to the scrolled point after clicking and releasing the click. Oddly enough I discovered this issue can be solved by:
Pressing the touch screen while in Atom
This obviously assumes that you are using a touchscreen laptop. I am unsure of whether this error exists for non-touchscreen laptops.
