Change Wordpress default email address (wordpress@domain.com)

Ok so when your users reset their password or submit a post, they will receive an email from wordpress@yourdomain.com. Obviously for professional reasons (security too) you do not want this – you might want admin@yourdomain.com.

So here’s how to change it: Establish an FTP connection to your website and navigate to wp-includes. In this directory you will find pluggable.php, this is the file you need to change. And what you’re looking for, looks like this:

if ( !isset( $from_name ) )
$from_name = ‘WordPress’;

if ( !isset( $from_email ) ) {
// Get the site domain and get rid of www.
$sitename = strtolower( $_SERVER[‘SERVER_NAME’] );
if ( substr( $sitename, 0, 4 ) == ‘www.’ ) {
$sitename = substr( $sitename, 4 );
}

$from_email = ‘wordpress@’ . $sitename;
}

The code begins at line 376 in wordpress v3.2.1. So simply change ‘WordPress’ to a meaningful name, as this will be contained in the details for the ‘From’ field in an email. And the last part to change is $from_email = ‘YOURDOMAIN@’ . @sitename

Lemme kno if you run into any problems.

Cherio!
